I then key framed it’s movements to follow the star dust particle effect through the scene with an added motion blur to finish the whole look of. I had one circle for the outer orange glow and another for the inner white intense glow. Both of the circles have a glow and blur effect so they aren’t so harsh around the edges. This was simply done by creating two small circles. I decided to make the star dust effect orange because I wanted there to be a feeling of warmth.Īfter I was happy with the star dust particle effect I then wanted to create some sort of a light orb. I added a number of glow effects to create a high intensity glowing effect. I was able to control the amount of particles being generated per second and how randomly spread it was.

Within the particle playground effect I mainly played around with the “Cannon” settings. After playing around with the various type of settings I was able to create a flowing particle (star dust effect). I made him closer to the camera by moving the Z position.Īfter my camera was animated (tracking forward) in 3D space I then started to create an effect using the “Particle Playground” effect. I started to experiment.įor the first step I step up my camera and made all my layers visible within 3D space.
#AFTER EFFECTS PARTICLE PLAYGROUND CUSTOM PARTICLES HOW TO#
Since I couldn’t find any online tutorials that would teach me how to create the effect I had in mind. I re-created this by simply using the brush tool and the clone stamp tool. Within the original image, the top of his head is cut off. With this particular experimentation, I used various tools such as the clone stamp tool, the selection tool, dodge tool, smudge tool and the paint brush etc. To get that parallax effect I used the exact same technique in Photoshop within my earlier parallax test. When researching for particle effect tutorials on YouTube, I found that most of the orb type particle effects used various plug-ins such as the Video Co-Pilot flare plug in, (which isn’t free!) With the type of look that I was going for in mind, I thought about just experimenting in After Effects with the different particle effects that is already available. So from doing my initial research of the different effects that I could add to the parallax effect, I looked into how I could create a particle stream effect.
